RE: How well does LAMINATE flooring standup?

We have 3 dogs and our laminate in our house is holding up very nicely. So much so, we will likely be adding it to the 5er this summer for a nice looking upgrade.

RE: Help!! How do I park that #**# 5th wheel

I have towed a lot of trailers. All bumper pull. This is our first 5th wheel trailer. Upon arrival to our very first campground, the biggest thing I noticed was I had to pull a LOT farther forward before I started backing. Way more than I had expected. Now that I know that, it has made a huge difference.

RE: Storing 5th Wheel

I store mine how it was unhitched. When I am ready to go, I pull up, hitch er up, get out of town. Haven't had a problem with the fridge....get r done, Cheers QFT. (quoted for truth)

RE: Stolen Truck in San Antonio

What kind of truck was it?

RE: Can anyone explain???

Hey I know why don't the truckers bring back the 1970 convoys to Washington and make a statement, because they are the ones this is really hurting. The (smart and successful) trucking companies raise their per mile charge or add fuel surcharges. They pay more at the pump but they charge more in return. Net result is zero. But then again, if they use rewards credit cards for their fuel purchases, they actually earn more rewards than if the price was lower. Heck, maybe this is an advantage to truckers. I work directly for a trucking company. Our fuel surcharges are through the roof and the highest I have ever seen. We pass the cost along to our customers, who pass the cost on to their customers, who pass the cost along to their customers, who pass the cost along to their customers who pass the cost along to the consumers... you and me. Not only do we pay more for the fuel we are using, we will be paying more for EVERYTHING due to the cost involved for getting it to the shelves.

RE: Landing gear...

IMHO.... it is much easier to go find a crank that fits your needs, and then cut it down and machine the end to fit the drill chuck. Might cost a bit at the machine shop but you know it will work. You will need to find an 8 or 12 point socket for that crank shaft. Another option is have a hex nut welded to the end if the current shaft. Ooooh, nice. Both great suggestions. I believe I will be going one of these two routes. Thanks for the great idea which I should have been able to come up with on my own, but alas...I am apparently dense. Thanks!

TTR, Best post I have read on this forum. Nice.

RE: Landing gear...

Oh, maybe mine is a little different from everyone elses then... I have a D shaped pin that I have to spin raise and lower my landing gear. It is not a regular hex head. :(

Landing gear...

I was hoping to find a bit or chuck that would fit my Dewalt drill to make raising and lowering the landing gear a little less tedious. I have been unsuccessful in finding such an animal. Does anyone know where to find something like that? Will I have to eventually make my own?

RE: Late 90's Komfort 5th Wheel

We have a 2003 26FS. IMO they should get the one with the big slide as this makes a huge difference in enjoying the trailer. Their truck can handle a 26 ok. Komforts back then had wooden studs (they went to the "aluma cage" when the new factory opened in Oregon around 2001.) but that should not be a show stopper. Wooden studs are ok if the trailer has been looked after. Our slide is electric and works ok, no reason why an older one shouldn't. Nothing to sag. I have a notion the older ones might have an hydraulic slide mechanism, not sure. If so that should be checked for proper maintenance of course. The converter will be the older, unsatisfactory type from the 90s, so plan on replacing that with a modern one for a couple hundred or so. Can't think of any particular Komfort "issues." We sure like ours :) Somebody with a 90s Komfort should answer this for more detailed info. Can you elaborate on this a little? We have a 98 Aerolite that I am having some battery issues with. Not sure if the battery is dead or the converter is dead...

RE: cleaning the white gasket around the windows?

Mine is stained. The dark color is embedded in the material. I have done a LOT of scrubbing with the various cleaners mentioned above. I will try the bleach soak this week for sure.

RE: cleaning the white gasket around the windows?

Nothing worked for us. Turns out it is simply a cover for the screws that hold the windows in place. I am planning on removing it all and replacing it with new. I don't think it is that expensive from a place like camping world. Just have to get the right stuff.

How much fun would it be?

I found an RV park for sale tonight. How much fun would it be to make a living and support your own existence by running an RV park? I am also pretty handy, so I could repair RV's while they were at our park. Would YOU consider it? ~Wade

RE: Newbie Question

Heh, I was wondering this as well. We have owned our 5'er for almost 3 weeks now. This weekend will be our third weekend in a row staying in it. I am wondering if we will spend ANY weekends at home this summer... I really doubt it.
